I started collecting daylilies in 1990. Jack Temple (my favorite hybridizer) influenced my first efforts in hybridizing. I started with dip spiders and ufs because that was what he was using. I meet him in the early 90's and we became good friends. I liked his flowers and he encouraged me to do spidery things. I still have a small dip uf program searching for the perfect white daylily.

I play guitar and sing with a bluegrass/country band and have written several songs. Two of our son’s also play music. I retired from Goodrich Aerospace five years ago. I was an aircraft mechanic in the beginning but was promoted quickly and retired as a supervisor. My wife, Kathleen retired from hybridizing when I retired from Goodrich. Most of our early registrations were hers but were registered by myself.  We have six children between us, thirteen grand children and five great grand children. None are interested in daylilies.

We are an AHS display garden.  I have registered about thirty daylilies beginning in 1999 to the present. All begin with LILLIAN for the small town we live in. Most can be seen on this site.  I have recently started doing tet eyes and edges (three years ago) more than anything else. I plant about 2500 seedlings each year and compost almost that many each year. We grow about 400 registered daylilies and most are less than two years old. We buy lots of new daylilies every year to increase and resell. We rarely keep one any longer than two years.

I'm a member of the Mobile and Pensacola daylily clubs, have been an AHS member since 1995, and an active member of Region 14. I help teach Exhibition Judging. My wife, Kathleen, is my daylily partner in crime.

What I enjoy most about daylilies is hybridizing. My hybridizing goal is to produce great garden plants with long bloom seasons.
