Hello gang,
I posted some of this message to the AHS robin the other day. I feel this is a cause that must be aired to all so that we can all help keep this wonderful series alive. I want to see all of My Daylilies stars on here on one of these DVD's in the future and this will be impossible if we let this very important Daylily historical database slip away into history itself. Read and and please help keep The Daylily Addict alive.
When I was at the Columbus Ohio meeting I met up with and chatted to
Charles Dorsey. Charles is the gentleman that produces the fantastic
video series on hemerocallis and the personalities behind them called
The Daylily Addict. When I picked up my latest DVD of his series to
bring back to my mother...Ms. Lanny...whom subscribes to the series...
I found out that this may be the very last year that Charles does
this. Now I know times are tough and that the economy with 10%
unemployment is on every ones minds, but immediate action is needed to
keep this wonderful series alive!!!!!
As has been said so many times before..."you never know what you had
until you have lost it". We as a daylily community must not allow
this very important historical database die out. Charles told me he
is more than willing to continue doing this series for us all, but he
is at the end of the funds for travelling and keeping the series
going. It takes money to travel to all the gardens and hot spots he
visits each year. Charles does many extensive trips to gardens around
both Canada and The United States...so two countries really stand to
lose a treasured series and product...not to mention the most serious
visual historical database we have on the present market.
How do we keep this fantastic series alive? Good question...I'm glad
you asked. What Charles has told me is he needs to sell more of the
prior released volumes he has out already. If he sells enough of
DVD's it will stay alive. Perhaps an individual, or a group of
individuals can help. Maybe even a "daylily club or organization" can sponsor or help aid in
supporting this wonderful historical database.
All I can say is please, please, please buy and donate
to this very important video database or we will lose it, and it will not be anytime quick for such a series to come around our way again. Once it's gone...it is truly gone.
If you want to see a garden that is too far away to visit...this is
the way to see it. Virtual garden touring is a marvelous way to
travel without the gas, the constant bathroom visits, the fast food,
the traffic and crazy drivers and all the other troubles that hinder
one traveling far distances. Add in you get to see what the
personalities look like...sound like, and how they conduct themselves.
This series is the best way to put you in the shoes of all these
great hybridizers and garden enthusiasts. The people recorded for us
all to see in living, breathing, speaking colour are there for us to
see, admire and learn from for the ages. Do not let this important
historical archives die out.
I believe the series is in the $50 range. Contact Charles to find
out. The holiday seasons are just around the corner. This is the
ideal gift for a daylily enthusiast. Do not be a part of letting this
series slide away and become history itself. We will all regret it.

As a special incentive I will give any of my fellow Canadians that
order back issues of the series a free plant next season. If the
plant has to be shipped to you then you will have to cover the
shipping costs, but I will give any Canadian that purchases any of the
prior years of this series a plant. You will have your choice of any
of my introductions or other hybridizers introductions that I have dug
up for sale and on our general sales list. I will have hundreds of
options...so act now!
Ciao, and keep what you love alive. Support
and aid the good causes...you'll regret it when they are gone.
