TOPIC: GALLERY PHOTOS

GALLERY PHOTOS 1 year, 11 months ago #11614

I went to look up CERISE MASTERPIECE and see the dates 2005 and 2006 under the photos. Are folks putting the Registration dates or Intro dates on the photos? I know this particular cultivar was Registered in 2003 so I am guessing someone has entered the intro year or are they dating when they took the photo?

I know John Peat is working on updating the Gallery which is a monster project but what is going to show for each photo?

Julia, since this cultivar was registered in 2003, the dates 2005 / 2006 do not agree with the registration date. Perhaps someone got mixed up on the Introduction date (s)? I don't know when it was introduced.

JP sent me a partial database update. I will upload the new database tonight. We should see better search ability with the new database.

Tell that lovely wife of yours that I come first! LOL <BG>

Thanks for letting us know that you are a slacker!

All those hours updating 10,011 records and you are slacking on the job blaming your wife. Hmmmm.

I was searching on the GALLERY for a photo of CERISE MASTERPIECE and something is amiss, I think.

When I did the search, alot of other photos besides the one I was looking for came up in the search. Elegant Universe, Clear Mountain Morning and a few others.
Why is that happening? I would think I would just pull up all the photos of CERISE MASTERPIECE and nothing else.

Hi Julia,

Same thing happened to me then I realized that the other images were coming up because the plant I was looking for was the parent of those other cultivars!

This to me is a positive side effect of the search.

I am going to test and see if this is the result you received after your search of Cerise Masterpiece!

Hi Julia,

Yup, that is exactly what is happening. All of the other cultivars that come up are kids out of Cerise Masterpiece.

A little confusing at first but once you know what is happening this can be a powerful tool.

Now that is an interesting feature. Not only see the cultivar but what kids is has.

Good job and thanks for the explanation.

I'm not sure Cary meant it to happen this way, I think it is just automatic, but what a feature it is.

I love it! This is something to build on. I can see that these galleries are going to be amazing once we fine tune them and figure out all the intricacies of how to build on them in the future.

Once all the info you are working on is in, are you planning on listing photos which are still not loaded in the gallery and perhaps members could add them?

I went yesterday to look-up FANCY FACE but no pic but I did find it in the member albums but got an error message that I needed to narrow down my search criteria as there were too many to list.

Lucky for me, Julie posted one on the CARPENTER thread.
