Out of 986 members, only 4 are advertising in our Classifieds Section right now. To help make this site all that it can be, we rely on your feedback and opinions. What can we do to improve this area?

Thanks for your input.

Hi Becki
I only recently noticed that there are no fees involved to advertise in the classifieds. Perhaps a blurb under the heading "Sell Your Daylilies Online" saying something like "Fee Free" would encourage more members to take advantage. I give away many of my extras, but I have sold to people coming to my garden and would appreciate some tips from the professionals on how plants should be prepared for shipping, how to pack, what kind of packaging is best, how to set a reasonable price, etc. This info would be most helpful if it appeared when one clicks the title Classifieds. I really don't know if the ads run until a sale is made or until a member removes them. The ads mention number of "hits", but "hits" do not necessarily translate into sales. Perhaps my timing has been off visiting the ads, but I haven't seen anything to indicate whether or not a sale is actually made...knowing that most sales do take place would be encouraging. Going from selling in your backyard to selling nationally is quite a big move and I feel that most backyard sellers are a wee bit apprehensive...it's that next big jump!

Some more to ponder:

If the ads are FREE, for how long?

What is the "Credits" all about?

How is MYDAYLILIES site protecting the buyers and sellers? Is the site willing to get involved in disputes? Fraud is a big concern for most folks as a buyer or seller.

Is there a waiting period for a new member to post ads?

Should the form indicate small, medium or large fans? How do we judge those sizes?

Is there an easy way to upload multiple listings? Instructions?

If someone doesn't fill in all the information, will the system reject the ad?

If using hybridizers photos, are sellers required to state that in the ad?

Feedback - is posting on someones "Wall" the right way or should there be a separate area within the CLASSIFIELDS section for feedback with a simple Positive,Negative or Neutral?

Since the CLASSIFIELDS are not an auction, should it be?

Can we sell other things other than daylily's?
examples could be other seeds?other plants? things that have to do with gardening?
things like herbal things soaps, creams, tinctures, etc...

Re:How Can We Improve the Classifieds? 1 year, 4 months ago #14626

Probably.....I would think they would fit under the heading "Misc" or "Other Plants".
Check out the listing of categories under the Classifieds section.

Julia's right Robin, Just post whatever you want to well, under the appropriate heading. If not DL related, then the misc. category.
