TOPIC: Blooming in September

Blooming in September 8 months, 2 weeks ago #17673

Most of the daylilies are done but I did have a really long and wonderful bloom season. Still there are some still blooming. Here are some blooms from the Labor Day Weekend.

It has been raining off and on all day and just started raining hard again a few minutes ago. The daylilies are soaked.

I have been watching the rebloom scape on WESTBOURNE ORANGES FOR CHRISTMAS as I knew it would open soon. It picked today. What you really can't see in the picture is that the bloom is extra large. Much larger than normal. The buds were (and still are) extra big also. I credit all the rain we have had for that!

The other daylily is VERNAL TUTONE which is reblooming this year. That never happened before. The rain and dark day has really made for saturated colors today.

CHARLESTON HARVEST AUTUMN MOONLIGHT FFO. I have been waiting for the first flower to open on this one. I think ANY FFO in September is remarkable! The only thing still left in my garden to open first flowers now is AUTUMN ODDITY which is not near blooming yet.

WESTBOURNE ORANGES FOR CHRISTMAS looks verry nice. is it a big bloom?

Re:Blooming in September 8 months, 1 week ago #17707

That one was and I think it is because of all the rain we have been getting. The first scape didn't have flowers as large as these are on rebloom.

A few seedlings are still blooming. The yellow is a late blooming cross of Green Glitter.

The other is Tarantual X All American Windmill last year seedling and its 1st blooms this year, it is still going strong in September.
