I am new to growing daylilies from seed, and have a question about when I should move them to a larger container. I have read some valuable information, and seem to have started these in too small of pots (2" peat pots). The seedlings are growing well, and I want to give them the best chance at survival through the winter. When should I transplant to a larger pot? Attached is the most recent image from my "grow room", these were planted about3 weeks ago. Thank you in advance for any assistance

Let them build a good root under them first. The first 4 weeks they mainly survive off of the energy stored in the seed while they build their first roots.

With peat pots you should be able to see when the new roots begin to grow through the bottoms of the pots. When that happens soak the peat real well and bury the whole thing in your next size pot. You can peel off the sides if you want but it shouldn't be necessary as the roots will penetrate the peat so long as it stays wet.

I usually start mine in 16oz plastic cups with holes punched in them for drainage. The seedlings do fine in these from Jan until I plant them out.

Tom,

If you aren't going to give them ALOT of light, then save your seeds until Spring. It won't be worth the effort.

Here's a link to our grow room.
