Hello Josette I had this happen 2 years ago and lost many seedlings. They are fungus gnats.

I did find one article... buy hydrogen peroxide 3% in the drug store...
for cuts and antiseptic for skin...
(DO NOT buy hydrogen peroxide for hair it is TOO strong)

Make a solution 25ml plus 75 ml water... you can double or triple this amount.

Pour this solution directly on the soil.. the soil will bubble up but this is OK.
It will kill the fungus gnat larvae in the soil but not harm the seedlings.
The larvae eat the roots of the seedlings... some may live... it will be up to the amount of root damage...

If you are buying store bought soil,, make sure you moisten it... then microwave on high for 2 minutes in small batches... this will kill any fungus gnats that may come from the soil..

next year...do this instead...
I also use beneficial nematodes to prevent the outbreak. You can buy these from Ladies in Red beneficial insects etc online The nematodes kill the larvae in the soil...

I mix 2 tablespoons of the mixture per gallon of water and then water the seedlings just ONCE. this puts the beneficial nematodes in the soil and these will kill the fungus gnats larvae. I have not had any problems since using the beneficial nematodes...

Do not use the beneficial nematodes with the hydrogen peroxide as you might kill the nematodes. so this year only use the hydrogen peroxide..

Put up a lot more yellow sticky tapes... you want to catch as many of the adults as possible.

I hope this helps. I hope someone can translate for you :)

Lee Pickles shared his method a couple of years ago, and I haven't had a single fungus gnat since. When I plant my seeds, I sprinkle Bayer tree and shrub over the soil. I then water with warm water mixed with the recommended amount of Bayer complete insect killer. This not only kills any gnats that might already be hatched in the soil but the Bayer Tree and Shrub (good for 12 months) kills any larvae and eggs. This has been the perfect solution.

When using these two things in combination, you will not have to heat the soil. The Bayer tree and shrub is also a mild fertilizer. I think it is 1-1-1 so it isn't strong and won't burn the emerging seedlings.

This is a problem I have every year and have tried all kinds of things. What worked best for me was the nematodes. If you can get the ones on a spoonge, that's the best. I've never had any luck with the dry ones. Watering from the bottom helps alot as the larva don't really like dry soil and they tend to stay at the top of the pots.

Houseplants are a fungus gnat paradise. They thrive in moist soil and feed on decaying organic matter, algae, and fungi. Adult fungus gnats create a nuisance, and the larvae damage plants by tunneling into succulent plant stems and roots. Under normal circumstances, It is recommend to keep the affected plants' soil free of decaying leaves and allowing the top of the soil to dry out between waterings. Dry soil kills larvae, reduces fungal growth, and prevents adults from laying eggs.

Some strategies for keeping gnats out and worms in. Place yellow sticky traps horizontally on the soil surface. They might not be pretty, but they allow you to kill some adult gnats and monitor their populations. If numbers are high, apply beneficial nematodes that will attack the larvae. ;)

You can kill the larva with a solution of hydrogen peroxide mixed 1/4 with water. For the flying gnats use fly catchers available at any big box store. I got them at walmart. They work as well as the sticky yellow traps and are very inexpensive.
