The catalog has quickly grown from 8 pages to 20 pages and from a circulation of 1,500 to 3,000. This is a break-even venture this time around so I would personally like to thank Cary Peterson for all of the time that he has put into the design of the pages. This is a daunting task given he had to break down and organize our descriptions so they would fit properly on a page with the images.
We envision that ‘The Modern Daylily Catalog’ will become a yearly, or maybe even a bi-annual publication. We are debating putting out a Fall Issue (June 30th) and a Spring issue (November 15th). We have already received a commitment by two of our current advertisers to combine our customer lists to increase circulation by mail. Over the next month we will have our ducks (wanna buy a duck?) in a row and will be able to advertise the rates for the next catalog, which will hopefully earn Cary a modest income for the many hours of design work that he will be putting in and of course earn our advertisers income from sales of their daylilies.
This is a great opportunity for all of us to save big dollars as I myself saved approximately $4,800 this year by putting in 2 full pages in this catalog rather than printing my own, taking it across the border, stuffing it, mailing it, etc. Your current advertisers for this issue are:
Browns Ferry Gardens, South Carolina
Kemberly Gardens, Mississippi|
Avalonia Daylilies, Ontario
Bonibrae Daylilies, Ontario
Cross Border Daylilies, Florida
Daylily World, Kentucky
Thoroughbred Daylilies, Kentucky
Heavenly Gardens, Ohio
Homeplace Gardens, North Carolina
Riverbend Daylily Gardens, Ohio
My Daylilies.com, Utah
Canadian-American Daylily Meeting, Ontario
Thanks to all of our contributors, we hope that this will increase your sales dramatically in the next few weeks.
THE SCOOP GAMEMydaylilies.com would like to announce a fun and exciting game for our registered members that will begin on February 1st, 2010, called 'The Scoop'.
It won't necessarily be THIS exact garden trowel. The image of 'The Scoop' may be larger, smaller, placed vertically, horizontally, transparent, all one color, whatever, but it will be a gardening trowel. The point is that it may be different each month to make it more difficult to find. Dial-up Connection Users: -We hope that you will enjoy playing 'The Scoop' and encourage your non-daylily friends to join our site and join in on the fun. You never know, we just might make a daylily addict out of them too! If you have any questions about the game, please don't hesitate to ask. You can email Cary privately or ask questions on the Announcements Forum in 'The Scoop' thread. IF YOU FIND THE SCOOP USE THIS E-MAIL
Hello Daylily Folks, Lots of things happening around the site this week as this bad boy continues to elbow itself to a top gardening presence on the web. Thanks to all who have helped spread the word in their various communities. Everyone's talking about us. Keep up the great work! For new members that are just finding their way, it can all be a bit overwhelming. If you find yourself lost, don't ever hesitate to ask questions. Bless his heart, Cary DOES still have a day job and a young family to divide his time with. Therefore, several of us are helping to keep an eye out for anyone that appears to need help, but if we don't know there's a problem, we can't help find a solution for you. As we get to know our new friends here, we are learning that many of you are 'experts' in your field of knowledge, whether it be writers, photographers, hybridizers, etc. and we want you to know that we appreciate the loyalty and dedication you're showing us here at Mydaylilies.com by offering solutions and sharing your own experience in the various Group discussions. As you roam around the site, you may come across mispelled words here and there. In our haste to bring all the wonderful features on this site to you as quickly as possible, errors are bound to happen. Please bear with us as we plunge ahead into more exciting features as well as go back to polish up. We would like to ask those who have already started a new Group, to please go back and proofread your Group's intro. There are typos or misspelled words that need correcting. We will go in and correct those we come across but we could save time if you did it yourself. To those who have enjoyed the use of our Chat Room feature (second icon over on the extreme left bottom of your page, beside the little house), please know that several chat rooms can be open at the same time. If there is a full house in one room and too many conversations going on to keep up with, we encourage you to open a new one. Open the door and they will come! The Chat Room is also a great place for Group Moderators to set up a regular meeting place for other members of their Group.
The bottom line is that Mydaylilies.com wants your time here to be an educational, fun experience, dedicated to our favorite flower. Enjoy!
