THE SCOOP GAME

Mydaylilies.com would like to announce a fun and exciting game for our registered members that will begin on February 1st, 2010, called 'The Scoop'.

Purpose :
The purpose of 'The Scoop' is to provide a fun way to educate members about growing and hybridizing daylilies and to help defray the cost of maintaining the website. Let's face it; internet space is not free, especially the amount of space we use for our gallery and member's photos. As much as we would like for everything on this website to always be free, realistically and financially, it's just not possible. This game is a fun way to help, and we hope that everyone eligible will want to participate. Participation in the game is OPTIONAL.

Rules of the Game :
The game will start at 12:01 am on Monday, Feb. 1st (and a new game will start again on the first day of every month thereafter.) Participants of the game MUST be registered members of the website and must sign up before the 1st of every month to play. A registered member who has signed up and paid to play must find the image of 'The Scoop' and notify Cary Peterson, the site owner, immediately via email and give him the exact location of where they found the image. The first person to contact Cary Peterson with the correct location will be the winner. The winner's REAL name will be announced within 48 hours. So please be aware that only registered members willing to provide a real full name and address will be eligible to play 'The Scoop'. The image of 'The Scoop' will be a gardening trowel like this one:

This one is not The Scoop

It won't necessarily be THIS exact garden trowel. The image of 'The Scoop' may be larger, smaller, placed vertically, horizontally, transparent, all one color, whatever, but it will be a gardening trowel. The point is that it may be different each month to make it more difficult to find.

The image may be anywhere, on any page of the Mydaylilies.com website. It may be imbedded in anyone's photo album, in the gallery, in a posted message in a group, in a profile, in a classified ad, ANYWHERE on the website. There will only be two people responsible for or involved in any way in 'planting' the image and that will be the site owner, Cary Peterson or Editor, Becki Pavlik.

Participating members are eligible to win the monthly prize only once every 6 months. In the vent that a winner has paid in advance for a full year, said member will still be eligible to win the Bass Gibson fan. Editors are not eligible to play.


Participation fee:
The cost for a registered member to play the game is $2.00 per month. There is a clickable link provided on our homepage (bottom of left-hand menu) which takes you to a sign-up and payment form. At this time, only Paypal and credit cards are acceptable forms of payment. ALL proceeds from The Scoop game will be used by Cary Peterson for website maintenance and improvements. On the sign-up form, members have the option to pay by the month or to pay in advance for playing 6 months or 1 full year.

As an added bonus, all members paying for 1 year in advance ($24.00) before April 15th will be entered in a drawing to win a single fan of the daylily cultivar, 'Bass Gibson' to be delivered in Fall 2010.

What is the prize?
The 'prize' will be advertised each month before the game begins. Vendors/ hybridizers who wish to participate (must also be registered members of our website) will be required to either donate a gift certificate to their nursery valued at more than, but no less than $200. OR can donate a specific gift such as a double fan of a new introduction or an entire collection. It's their choice.

The prize for our first game that begins Monday, February 1st, is a $300.00 gift certificate including shipping costs donated by hybridizer, Mick Morry of www.avaloniadaylilies.com to be used on his website or at his nursery.

In exchange, all vendors/hybridizers participating in 'The Scoop' game will be advertised on our homepage and the vendor/hybridizer chosen to be the donor of the prize for that month (chosen at random by Cary from the list of participating vendors/hybridizers) will have a Feature Member article written up about them and their business and posted during that month. Vendors/hybridizers are also eligible to play the game as long as they pay to play ($2.00 per month) and are not providing the prize that month.

MyDaylilies.com does not endorse or warrant the performance of the plants or prize provided by donating hybridizers of The Scoop Game. It is the sole responsibility of the winner and donating hybridizer to make satisfactory arrangements for the ordering of and shipping of any daylilies or said prize chosen to fulfill their prize quota.

Dial-up Connection Users:
Before signing up to play the Scoop Game, please consider this warning. It is a common problem of all dial-up internet connections for it to take longer for pages with images to download on any website and Mydaylilies.com is no different. Our website is loaded with images and more times than not, the Scoop Game garden trowel will be hidden on such a page with images. Dial-up users may find this very f rustrating, therefore, it is recommended that members on a dial-up internet connection refrain from playing the Scoop Game. However, it is a choice only you can make. In the future, refunds will not be made after the monthly game has begun because of connection or downloading issues.

Hello Daylily Folks,

Lots of things happening around the site this week as this bad boy continues to elbow itself to a top gardening presence on the web. Thanks to all who have helped spread the word in their various communities. Everyone's talking about us. Keep up the great work!

For new members that are just finding their way, it can all be a bit overwhelming. If you find yourself lost, don't ever hesitate to ask questions. Bless his heart, Cary DOES still have a day job and a young family to divide his time with. Therefore, several of us are helping to keep an eye out for anyone that appears to need help, but if we don't know there's a problem, we can't help find a solution for you.

As we get to know our new friends here, we are learning that many of you are 'experts' in your field of knowledge, whether it be writers, photographers, hybridizers, etc. and we want you to know that we appreciate the loyalty and dedication you're showing us here at Mydaylilies.com by offering solutions and sharing your own experience in the various Group discussions.

As you roam around the site, you may come across mispelled words here and there. In our haste to bring all the wonderful features on this site to you as quickly as possible, errors are bound to happen. Please bear with us as we plunge ahead into more exciting features as well as go back to polish up. We would like to ask those who have already started a new Group, to please go back and proofread your Group's intro. There are typos or misspelled words  that need correcting. We will go in and correct those we come across but we could save time if you did it yourself.

To those who have enjoyed the use of our Chat Room feature (second icon over on the extreme left bottom of your page, beside the little house), please know that several chat rooms can be open at the same time. If there is a full house in one room and too many conversations going on to keep up with, we encourage you to open a new one. Open the door and they will come! The Chat Room is also a great place for Group Moderators to set up a regular meeting place for other members of their Group.

The bottom line is that Mydaylilies.com wants your time here to be an educational, fun experience, dedicated to our favorite flower. Enjoy!
